Chestnut Ridge is a village located in the town of Ramapo in Rockland County, New York and is bordered by Bergen County, New Jersey. It is a suburban community located about 30 miles from New York City. Chestnut Ridge is served by the zip codes of 10952, 10965, and 10977.
Chestnut Ridge consists mostly of residential areas surrounded by densely wooded areas, local parks and schools. The atmosphere of the village offers a quite and peaceful living away from busy main roads. Chestnut Ridge is conveniently located along route 45, which leads to the busy areas of Rockland County to the north, and Montvale of New Jersey to the south.
According to the United States Census Bureau, as of 2000 Chestnut Ridge has a population of more than 7,500 residents. The village has a total land area of 4.9 square miles. The village is located at an elevation of over 400 feet above sea level.
The racial demographics of Chestnut Ridge are 73.96% White, 13.87% African American, 0.13% Native American, 6.74% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 2.68% from other races, and 2.55% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race are 8.09% of the population.

Chestnut Ridge is served by the excellent East Ramapo Central School District and is home to Fleetwood Elementary School (K-3), Margetts School (K-3), Eldorado Intermediate School (4-6), and Chestnut Ridge Middle School (7-8.) Additionally, the village is home to the Green Meadow Waldorf School, a private school offering primary and secondary education. Higher Education in Chestnut Ridge is available in Sunbridge College, which specializes in child education.
Chestnut Ridge Middle School offers great recreational opportunities for public use at its athletic fields, basketball courts and indoor gym. Children’s Park has ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, trails and a pond.
